The Barrios

The Barrios' biggest soccer fan
  • +15 thousand Families living in 50-150 sq ft. shacks, burnt out cars, underneath cardboard and pallets
  • No running water or power
  • Holes in the ground for toilets
  • Limited or no access to health care services
  • 60% of kids don't go onto high school
  • 40% of the population is unemployed

The Mexico barrios are communities saturated with thousands of families in desperate need of both physical attention as well as spiritual development, needs that One Mission is aggressively trying to address. Some families will never see a doctor or be treated for medical conditions their entire life. Only 30% of the population go on to receive a secondary education, leaving them extremely underdeveloped. Unfortunately the Rocky Point barrios are often time's unseen and unknown of by American tourists, whom experience 5 star vacations in towering beach resorts only miles away from these communities.

How Can You Help?

Vacation With A Purpose

A big part of our solution is to offer short term outreach trips (3-5 days) to individuals, Churches, businesses, and schools a safe and affordable way to make a positive impact. By partnering with One Mission groups are not only a part of the short-term solution; building homes and providing medical attention, but also the long-term solution of building Self-Sustaining Communities. Led by our staff, groups as large as 400 are comfortably hosted at our Base Camp. After the American volunteers leave Rocky Point our staff continues to address needs such as life skills, education, and spiritual development.
