The Power of Togetherness

Last week, we launched our year-end giving campaign with the release of our new short film, Together. This week, we continue with that theme by sharing a first-hand account of the impact of togetherness.

It comes from Madison Law, the daughter of 1MISSION founders Jason and Tina Law:

For as long as I can remember, 1MISSION has been part of my life. My parents started taking me down on build trips as a baby. Some of my first memories are of us serving in Rocky Point together. But it wasn’t until about a year ago that I decided to make a commitment to this organization and go back as much as possible.

On a build trip last fall I met Jackeline, whose house we were building. She said to me, "Anytime you’re back, come visit!" So I did. Our relationship isn’t the typical "talk everyday" kind, or meet up at a coffee shop to catch up. But when we can, we try to say a quick hello.

These trips are truly eye opening. Seeing the conditions these families live in completely shifts our perspective. Growing up I have been blessed to have all the basic needs like a roof over my head, warm water to shower, and food on my plate. It’s not until we see how these families are living that we truly start to appreciate the things we call basic.

Even though I have been doing these trips my whole life, the significance of it has never worn off. I'm a senior in high school, so I still have a lot of unknowns in my future, but what I’ve learned from being involved with 1MISSION is that I want to make a difference in the world, whenever and however I can.

This giving season, we're inviting you to join Madison and so many others who are committed to making a lasting difference in the communities we serve through the power of partnership.

Your one-time gift of $50, $100, $250—or whatever you can give—will help to sustain life-changing community development initiatives and housing projects.

Will you partner with a family like Jackeline's today?
